Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility
Alexander Youth Network manages two Psychiatric Residential Facilities which helps us to serve children ages 5-17, struggling with mental and behavioral health challenges, across all counties of North Carolina. Through each child’s person-centered plan, our interdisciplinary teams work with the child and family to create effective and long-lasting behavioral change.
Our model of care is built on fostering a natural support system for children while they are in treatment kids and promoting involvement of parents and families, Families are asked to participate in Monthly Child and Family Team meetings, weekly family therapy, and therapeutic home visits. The Beth Jones Family Cottages are available for families to stay in during their visits, without charge.*
*The Beth Jones Family Cottages are located on our Main Campus in Charlotte, NC alongside our Charlotte residential program.
Residential Care & Structured Treatment
The Psychiatric Residential Treatment (PRTF) programs at Alexander Youth Network provide children with behavioral or mental health diagnosis with structured, relationship-focused treatment through a residential around-the–clock therapeutic model.
Charlotte Residential Treatment
Our Charlotte residential program serves children ages 5-14 and is based on the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) – a developmentally-sensitive assessment that attributes a child’s history and current behavioral challenges into diagnosis. Through the NMT metric, our licensed clinicians are able to work with parents or guardians to develop a Person-Centered Plan for treatment. Our treatment plans include hands-on, therapeutic activities proven to promote the skills children need to manage their own behavior and get along better with others. Each child’s treatment plan is reviewed and updated every 30 days.
Greensboro Residential Treatment
Our Greensboro residential program serves adolescents ages 13-17 who suffer from severe emotional and behavioral challenges. This program also integrates substance use treatment for adolescents struggling with substance use disorders. This program provides intensive individual, group and family therapy.
In addition to NMT, our licensed clinicians are trained in evidence-based practices such as:
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Play Therapy
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
All services are provided under the direction of a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist with onsite nursing 24-hours a day. We provide a staff-to-client ratio of two-to-six and length of stay is determined on a case by case basis. All meals during the program are prepared and served in our cafeteria, and the nutrition program follows USDA guidelines for school meals.
