As we welcome a new year, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the year behind us and the future ahead at Alexander Youth Network.

This past year marked my first as CEO, and it has been a year of change, progress, and forward movement across the organization. We served thousands of children and families in 74 counties throughout North Carolina, and our reach continued to grow in places where the need is real and urgent.

Throughout it all, we’re guided by a simple belief that I repeat often: we must do the absolute best for kids. That belief has shaped our decisions, our priorities, and our work every day.

One goal has been abundantly clear: serve the children who need us most. At the same time, we are working to ensure kids can be served closer to home. In North Carolina, there are not enough options for children who need the most intensive care. Too often, children end up waiting in emergency rooms or, in some cases, sleeping in county offices simply because the right resources are not available. That is not acceptable, and it is something we are actively working to change by building stronger in-state solutions.

Over the past year, more children were supported in their own communities, homes, and schools. That matters. Staying connected to familiar people and places gives kids a better chance to stabilize, stay engaged in school, and move forward. Across the organization, I’ve seen teams push for better outcomes and look for new ways to meet kids where they are.

What stands out to me most is the energy inside this organization. Staff, partners, and volunteers are asking hard questions, bringing new ideas forward, and staying focused on what works for children. There is momentum here, and it’s coming from people who care deeply about doing the job well.

Looking ahead, we have big plans and a clear responsibility. We will soon share the next phase of our work as we continue expanding our reach across North Carolina and strengthening care for children with the greatest needs. I’m excited about what’s ahead and confident in where we are going.

We must do the absolute best for kids. That has guided us this year, and it will continue to guide us in 2026 and in the years to come.

Sincerely,

Brennon D. Graham, President & CEO, Alexander Youth Network
