At Alexander Youth Network, we often say healing takes a village—and people like Rae Ellerbe are the heart of that village. As our Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) Referral Coordination Manager, Rae is doing more than just a job. She’s answering a lifelong calling: to speak up for children who don’t always have a voice, to fight for families, and to turn moments of chaos into chances for connection and care.
A Mission That Chose Her
Rae joined Alexander Youth Network on October 7, 2025, but her passion for child advocacy began long before that.
“From an early age, I felt pulled to support those who didn’t have the same opportunities I had—to be the difference for someone who’s struggling, to show up when it matters most.”
It’s that inner drive that led her to Therapeutic Foster Care, where every day is a new opportunity to protect, to uplift, and to rebuild hope.
Starting Small, Dreaming Big
Rae began her journey with Alexander Youth Network by recruiting TFC families through digital campaigns—no small feat in a world where fostering is both beautiful and incredibly challenging. She brought in 18 new families within a few months—an achievement that deeply moved her and shifted the trajectory of her role.
“That was a turning point for me,” Rae says. “To know that I had a hand in creating homes for kids who desperately needed stability—it’s something I’ll never forget.”
Today, Rae is not only bringing families into the fold—she’s matching children with the right homes, coordinating referrals, and helping implement smarter systems that keep our work compassionate, clear, and consistent.
Love in Action
When asked what she loves most about her work, Rae doesn’t hesitate:
“It’s being part of a child’s healing. These are kids going through some of the hardest moments of their lives. And to be someone who helps them find safety, love, and stability—it’s more than rewarding. It’s sacred.”
More Than a Promotion—It’s a Purpose
Now in her new role as Referral Coordination Manager, Rae sees even more opportunity to transform the foster care experience—for children, families, and the team that supports them.
“This promotion isn’t just a step up. It’s a reminder that there’s so much more to do. I want to make things easier for our team, keep our parents informed, and ensure our kids are cared for in the most thoughtful, efficient way. I want Alexander Youth Network to be the agency families trust,” Rae said.
Wisdom for the Journey
For those hoping to grow in this field, Rae’s advice is full of heart and honesty:
“Know yourself—your strengths and your limits. Don’t be afraid to speak up, and always bring your ideas to the table. Even one voice can spark a big change.”
The Mindset That Fuels Her
Her favorite mantra? One that speaks to both heart and mind:
“Success isn’t the result of hard work, it’s the result of the right thinking.”
And Rae embodies that—every thoughtful match she makes, every system she improves, every life she helps change. Rae Ellerbe is more than a manager—she’s a force for good, a light for children in the dark, and a powerful example of what it means to lead with empathy. We’re honored to have her on our team and can’t wait to see how she continues to shape the future of foster care at Alexander Youth Network.
