We’re building a 48-bed residential treatment center to bring life-changing mental healthcare closer to home for North Carolina’s most vulnerable youth.
Alexander Youth Network is building a 48‑bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility in Greensboro to serve children and adolescents with the most complex mental health needs—bringing care closer to home.
The Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) programs at Alexander Youth Network provide children and adolescents with structured, relationship–focused treatment through a residential, around-the-clock therapeutic model. Designed to serve children and adolescents with the most advanced mental health treatment needs, PRTF services are a critical component of an effective service array.
Across North Carolina, too many children face serious mental health challenges—and too few places exist to help them heal.
With only 14 residential treatment programs statewide, demand far exceeds capacity—leaving many youth without access to the intensive care they urgently need.
Too often, children are sent far from home or go without treatment altogether, ending up in emergency rooms, jails, or other settings not designed for healing. At Alexander Youth Network, we see this gap every day as the need for PRTF services continues to outpace available care.
In one year, Alexander received 879 referrals for residential mental health care. Only 34 children could be served.
The Greensboro expansion helps close that gap.
