Yoga Therapy at Alexander Youth Network
Guiding children to healing through yoga and meditation
Yoga, mindfulness, and meditation is often used as an activity to reduce stress and anxiety. Through therapeutic breathing and calming exercises, children are able to concentrate their energies on self-regulating techniques when stressed.
Yoga practice provides children with a mind and body release to improve symptoms of anxiety, depression, and impulsive behaviors.
Through a series of poses and breathing techniques, children are able to mimic coordinated relaxation responses, as well as learn appropriate responses to stress. The repetitive practice of yoga allows children to develop positive patterned responses to behavioral triggers.
