Meet Our Therapeutic Foster Care Team

May 20, 2020  |  Comments Off on Meet Our Therapeutic Foster Care Team

Our Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) Team works one-on-one with our Therapeutic Foster Parents to provide compassion, care, and community to children at Alexander Youth Network.

At Alexander Youth Network, our Therapeutic Foster Care team is dedicated to preparing our foster parents with the necessary training and support for each TFC placement. Consisting of recruiters, trainers/coaches, and our management team members, our staff is involved in every step of the process from the TFC parent application to temporary TFC placement and transitions back to the child’s biological family or permanent placement. Our goal at Alexander is to provide parents with every resource possible to be a successful therapeutic foster parent and to provide a loving and stable home.

In beginning the process of becoming a foster parent, you will be paired with one of our recruiters. Each recruiter will help you complete the application, paperwork, and be your liaison for any therapeutic foster care parent-related questions.

“It is a learning process but parents will get it.  There are plenty of children who need our help and you may be the perfect person to help them.   ” – Cherice King, Licensing Specialist, on the importance of the therapeutic foster care program.

Meet Our Recruiters:

Vonda Adams

Vonda has been with Alexander Youth Network for nine years as a trainer, licensing specialist, and recruiter for TFC. She has served children and families in various professional capacities across Durham County. In her spare time, she enjoys watching movies, reading, and spending time with family.

Janice Buxton

Janice Buxton

Janice has worked in the mental health field for over 10 years, and as part of the Therapeutic Foster Care team as a recruiting and licensing specialist for five years. I absolutely enjoy meeting new people and love connecting children and families together.  My primary responsibilities are recruiting, training, and licensing prospective foster parents.  My ultimate goal is to help children and families succeed through life challenges and help treatment parents develop skills and knowledge that will have a positive effect on the lives of the children they serve.

Lloiann Byers

Lloiann Byers, QP

Lloiann is a recruitment and licensing specialist based in our Spindale Office.  Lloiann is dedicated to our TFC parents and believes it takes commitment and willingness as well as open communication with parents to be successful in the program. Understanding behaviors and fostering change is the best information we can provide a parent fostering a child who has experienced trauma. She believes those are two of the most valuable qualities potential foster parents can have.
