Alexander Youth Network’s annual Celebrating Our Kids luncheon will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the Westin Hotel in downtown Charlotte.
This year’s theme is “Sounds of Laughter,” and represents the profound impact that successful treatment can have on children suffering from mental health disorders.
The U.S. Surgeon General reports that 1 in 10 children suffers a mental health disorder and that 1 in 5 have a serious emotional disturbance severe enough to significantly impair normal functioning in the family, community and at school. In Mecklenburg County, that is 25,000 children of all ages, races, sexes, and income level.
Alexander Youth Network is a 501(c)3) nonprofit corporation and a leading provider of children’s behavioral healthcare in North Carolina. The agency is supported by fees for service, government grants, and donations from individuals, corporations, foundations and other organizations. |
